Turf News with Garry Haynes
Well we started with the coolest /wettest spring I have seen in for some time. The turf needed soil temps of 17-18 degrees to begin growing and we barely reached those temperature until June 8th so recovery on a few weak areas had been very slow. On the positive note our ponds have been full and we look in very good shape for this years drought they were calling for. This is where we use water from to water the course.
All fairways have been aerated and have recovered nicely. This cultural program is very important for the health of turf. Im sure you noticed we have a few projects on the go, all the mounds on 8,9/2,9/1 and driving range have been seeded with fescue and are growing in very well. We have laid 20 pallets of sod on 9 fairway, 8 green and tie ins on 9/1. We laid 11 more pallets to finish it off. We will also finish laying sod on the new tees on 9 and 11.
Overall we are happy with the conditions and play-ability of the golf course.
